a blog by any other name....

i starting blogging in december of 2009.  the blog's original name used to be a dream named vincent.  i was, am and will forever be a big fan of loci (law & order:  criminal intent).  so i named my blog after the leading actor of the show, vincent d'onofrio.  consequently, my username - bobbybegood1 - was taken from the actor's character -- det. robert (bobby) goren.

however, after reading a wonderful book titled living a charmed life by victoria moran, i decided to title my blog after the name of the book because of the book's wonderful suggestions on how to live a grand life.

last night i was thinking of all the fabulously named blog titles and began thinking about how or why we choose the names/titles of our blogs.  sometimes, because of a blog's title, i will read and then follow.  for example, i just found a blog named black coffee and cigarettes.  the title struck a personal cord with me so i joined and now follow.

i guess my question to my blogbuddies is this:  why or how did you come up with the title of your blog?  what was your inspiration for beginning your blog?  this conversation should prove very interesting.  cheers!!

  1. I was a big fan of LOCI and Det. Bobby Goren too! Glad to learn the story behind your alias! My blog is called "She Who Seeks" because Debra She Who Seeks is my spiritual name. It all has to do with bees and the Goddess.

  2. I also started my blog in 2009, and back then it was called 'Water Roots'. I used to have a website that was all about growing plants in water (hydroculture), and eventually I added a blog to it. But my blog morphed into all the other things I enjoy, and I started to drift away from growing plants. That's when I decided to change my blog's name to 'Plowing Through Life'. Because that's how I see myself. Plowing along through life...

    1. it seems that is how many of us go through life - plowing, struggling. but life can and should be easy, sometimes. i started a pothos plant by hydorculture in a clear glass vase and my bamboo plant is in a clear vase too. i love seeing the roots of plants. great story. cheers!!

  3. Hi, I'm your newest follower. :) And thank you for following my blog.
Great question you have here. I named my blog "Women Talk About Life". I was feeling the need to reach out and get to know others and that includes men. I need to get the men in women to stand out in my title. :)
    Have a great day!

  4. Neat story behind your blog names.

I called mine "I Think; Therefore, I Yam" (Cogito ero spud) because it tickled my funny bone, and I'm a sucker for puns. Yeah, I know. The lowest form of humor. Tough.

  6. Thanks for the mention! I chose the name Black Coffee and Cigarettes because the blog was intended to be a writing blog and I smoke a lot and drink copious amounts of coffee when I'm writing. Now it's more of a coffee break and a chat, but the title still works - don't know what I'll do if I ever quit smoking though! ;-)

  7. Mine was not very creative at all, I just wanted a word that started with an "s" like siciliana, so I chose saucy...like tomato sauce:) I can't believe you live in Mt. Vernon. Of course I know it, I went there a few times from the Bronx.

  12. Wow so neat to read through all the blog origin stories. I can't recall how my title came about (My Adorable Small Town Life) but I knew I wanted to write about my adventures in my small town and somehow describing it as adorable fit pretty well. :)
