DEFINING MOMENTS

Many people spend their entire lives scripted in , conditioned for that one big adventure or experience that will give meaning to their lives

Only, life doesn't work like that most of the time

Mindfulness of the day-to-day, often second by second realization of Life's blessings, fulfillment, beauty, gives purpose

Experiencing special times as when two or more souls meet -briefly - however, and make sincere, heart-to-heart exchanges matters most significantly

Never think for a moment that your genuine, authentic self doesn't have the ability to reveal the pathway, point the direction, that moves you along an upward spiral

Time and space cease to exist sufficiently, unbeknownst to strangers to become friends - in that brief moment

Self-awareness and personal security come when you suspend your own paradigm, step out of your own frame of reference, and into another's to see (spiritually) in them something beautiful and lovely

CHEERS!!

IN ORDER TO CHANGE, THERE HAS TO BE A CHANGELESS CENTER/CORE WITHIN

Life is full of possibilities!!!

This past Sunday I was pondering certain principles of life, natural laws - if you will, and I realized something amazing about myself.  No matter what adversity, obstacle or unfavorable circumstance or situation life throws at me, nothing but NOTHING can or will ever change the free-spirited, fun-loving, childlike little girl inside me.  I love life and no matter what, I remain a bright, cock-eyed optimist. "The glass is FOREVER half-full to me.

Now I know and certainly can understand how people can become jaded by life's problems.  But if we can just go deep within ourselves and find that changeless center, find that guiding principle albeit loyalty, passion, excellence, integrity, service to others, compassion, courage,  - whatever - and hang on to that, be grateful for that, I believe that things will get better. It's law.  What is your changeless core?

DONALD TRUMP: (bka - MAGILLA GORILLA)

Ok, I am not a huge fan of primates, and I don't know why, even though we humans are closely related.  But I would rather be a fan to this primate than a fan of Donld Trump anytime.  I was watching Bill Moyers, host of Moyers and Company this past Sunday evening as he was interviewing Anthony Baxter, director of you have been trumped.  A documentary of Trump's latest take over.

He's (gorilla Trump) supposedly builiding the "world's greatest golf course" in Scotland over the objections of the residents of Aberdine, Scotland.  Trump's lastest conquest gives me the creeps.  What makes this more atrocious is that the Scotland Parliment has put their stamp of approval on this takeover and has allowed for the development of the golf course.  Trump organization has destroyed the ecological habitat of the sand dunes and surrounding delicate ecological environment.  Even more dangerous is the statement that Trump used to refer to the area residents of Aberdine as, "a national embarrassment."  Trump and his croonies have taking to turning off the water of an 86 year old resident, violating people's spaces (stating imminent domain), bringing in the police to harrass residents giving them no explanation, and having them arrested and thrown in prison.

In addition, as if it could not get any worse, the University of Aberdine has bestowed upon Trump an honorary degree.  Trump has become a "hero" to the elite - honoring his ability to make money rather than honoring the people who have lived in these homes for 50 or more years.  Giving credence to the 1 percent ruling and controlling and doing what they damn please over the other 99 percent.  I am appalled, disgusted, revolted, sickened and horrified.

This sets dangerous precidence.  Trump during an tnterview said, "I want to talk with a real jounalist - indicating his ignorance, disparaement and total disrespect of Mr. Baxter who is a bonafide journalist.  He started out in radio and also has worked for the BBC.  Talk about a condesending attitude.  Please, your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

EFFECTS WORSE THAN DISEASE!

I admit the field of medicine has come a long way and the medications to deal with ailments, but after seeing a commercial about diabetes and cholestrol medication and the stated side effects of taking such medications, well - to say the least - it floored me.  List below are some of the major side effects of taking any number of medications.  Patient beware!!

Swollen tongue, baldness, impotence, bruising, blood, nervous, lymph problems, heart attack, cancer, hives, blackouts, shortness of breath, nose bleed, constipation, heart palpitations, thoughts of suicide and homocide, breathing problems, angina, muscle and joint pain, depression, eczema, psoraisis, yeast infection, anemia, headaches, earaches, kidney and liver failure, hypertension, hypoglycemia, iching, blindness, numbness, tingling, vomiting, vaginal dryness, fainting, dizziness, fractures, fever, abscess, hallucinations, jaundice, asthma.  WHEW!!  And that ain't even half of what can happen to you from taking meds.  What have I got to say?

If the disease don't kill ya the side effects sure will.

CAREER CHOICES - SOCIAL WORK RATHER THAN MEDICINE/SCIENCE: What Was I Thinking?

I did not graduate in the "normal" sense of the word.  I obtain my GED in 1980.  I scored VERY high in the science area of the test, which leads me to my story.  A couple of years ago while sleeping in bed I noticed something very unusual.  Whenever I would sleep on my left side I would burp.  When I first discovered this, I thought - hmmmmm - very interesting.  What's up with that?  When I would sleep on my right side - NOTHING!  Only when I slept on my left side would I pass gas.  Isn't that funny?  I mentioned this to my roomate - at that time - and he noticed it happening to him too.  Wow!  What a discovery.  Only took me 50 years to find out.  Has anyone else realized this phenomena?

Although social work is a very rewarding, but not a very highly paid profession, I do feel that I missed my true calling and could have been rewared greatly financially.   Ha.  Cheers!!

5 WAYS TO GET YOUR FLIRT ON!

I was watching The Doctors on CBS and one of the topics was about flirting.  Unbeknownst to me there are five ways in which people can flirt.  First, is the PHYSICAL.  People who flirt this way use touch to communicate.  They develop relationships quickly and seek the deepest emotional connection.  Those who use this form of flirting hope that the relationship lasts.  Second, is the TRADITIONAL way.  This form allows the man to "take the lead" - to be in charge - you know - pay for dinner.  LOL!  Third, is PLAYFUL.  This form allows for the "chase."  People who follow this form are very playful.  Batting eyes, smiling, romping.  Acting child-like but not childish.  It boosts self-esteem.  Fourth is the POLITE form of flirting.  I never heard of this form.  These people like rules.  They enjoy the slow approach.  They take their time.  The Pointer Sisters song "Slow Hand" comes to mind when I think of this approach.  Haha.  Last is the SINCERE approach.  These folk are interested in the emotional aspect of flirting.  Their interests lie in longevity.  The long haul.  According to the doctors on The Doctors the best ones are playful, traditional and the physical.  I like them all and at one point or other used them all.  All seem to have their pros and cons.  Which ones do you like and implement when you are flirting - even with your hubbys or wifeys, if you happened to be wedded kind?  Cheers!!

A HUMAN INTEREST STORY: Progeria - The Aging Disease

Progeria is an aging disease which occurs in one of every 4 million births.  Doctors do not know the cause and there is no cure.  Progeria is a genetic disease, but it is not hereditary and can happen without any warning (I wonder can they detect it through amniosynthesis).  The illness is an auto-immune disease.  The children who suffer from this disease age 8 to 10 times faster than normal.  So, at the age of six these children can have the body of a sixty or seventy year-old person.  There are about 90 individuals world-wide who have this disease and there are none who have lived past the age of 14.
20/20 aired an expose on this subject about a month ago.  My heart went out to these children and their parents and families as Barbara Walters interviewed them.  What struck me the most was the courage, compassion, spunk and sincerity displayed in their spirits.  These children are truly phenomenomal!  Although their bodies are limited, their spirits soar to great heights.  One little girl Barbara interviewed was six and ready to start first grade.  She wanted to ride the school bus to experience a feeling of "normalcy."  Because she was so small and her bones so weak, she had to practice getting on and off the bus before actually doing it for the first day of school.  She nailed it her first time.  While I take for granted that I have the good use of my body - I'm able to walk, run, jump, talk, see, hear, read and play - do just about anything I want to at WILL - the fearlessness and boldness these young, sick children showed gave me a new perspective on life.  I complain a lot less.  A very startling notion I got from watching these brave children is that they DO NOT want pity.  They taught me at a deeper level about compassion, courage and love.  They are thoughtful, charming, gentle, and just wonderful.  Cheers to them!!
